marvel vs capcom 3
i recently purchased marvel vs capcom 3. its a sequel (obviously) to some older fighting games that you used to see at the arcade a lot. The game adds new fighters, as well as removes some. Ken form Street Fighter was removed, i know many people were upset over that. The imprtant thing here though is that it dosent matter how many fighters there are to choose from if some of them are just plain bad. Normally they would be balanced like attack speed over reach or defense over speed, but here range is everything. When picking your 3 person team all you have to do is pick 2 people with long reach (aka Dante,Trish, the dog from ookami, and Chris from RE5) and a 3rd person with annoying healing or ranged support moves. The support is another feature of the MVC series that bothered me, its too damn hectic. You can summon your partners whenever you want with an about 2 second cool down. this means anybody who can tap the L and R buttons the whole time will probably win without even having to put the smallest effort into combos. The soundtrack is good with every character having their own theme song, however the sound effects of the chaotic mush of 6 fighters on screen most of the time drown out everything. This game is easy compared to other fighters, the combos are simple and you can button mash your way to all the super moves. However the Ai is particularly skilled, even on normal mode. on the brighter side theirs a great deal of fan service here, if you like a specific character form the game you can unlock special artwork and story for that character. you can also choose from English or Japanese voices, or a mixture of the 2 depending on your own preferences. there are 4 fighters to unlock but i did that my first session with the game. also right off the bat they want you to buy extra fighters as DLC. overall i give this game a 2/5 because 1 it was too easy to pick Dante and solo EVERYONE, and 2 i want to hear the awesome soundtracks, dont drown them out with SFX!
ps. you'll notice my grammar here sucks, but its 12 now and i want to go to bed.

Interesting review. Might be passing on this game though.
ReplyDeleteif your a fan of the characters, and have a blockbuster or similar near you id rent it because it is alot of fun for like 3 hours
ReplyDeletePersonally i hate fighting games except for Super Smash Brothers, but that doesn't really count. Overall i think the review was good though, because most people who like those characters would sugarcoat the game.
ReplyDeleteAlso i hated RE5 from what i played.
